"Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is what you learn on the way down." (Jigar Gor)

Marleen Kinder-Leighton
A Journey That Began in Eastbourne… and continues in Hangleton
I took my first yoga class over 27 years ago, as a student in Eastbourne, searching for relief from chronic neck and shoulder pain. What I found was so much more than a cure. Since then, yoga has been my faithful companion and my anchor and has become part of my life. My personal practice has been shaped by influences such as Ashtanga Vinyasa, Vajrasati, Iyengar, and Hatha Yoga — each offering something different and meaningful along the way. About 13 years ago, I felt a pull to share what I’d learned with others. I completed my Teacher Training with the British Wheel of Yoga, the UK’s largest yoga organisation, and have been teaching ever since — with curiosity, care, and a deep respect for the tradition.
In 2017, I trained in Yoga Hormone Therapy with Brazilian psychologist and yoga therapist Dinah Rodrigues. Dinah, still teaching at age 94, is a powerful inspiration — and the method she developed is equally powerful. It's a natural, energising approach that supports women before, during, and after menopause. I’m honoured to share this work here in Brighton and Hangleton.
My approach to teaching is gentle, grounded, mindful, and compassionate — with a touch of humour and lightness. Classes are small, so I can offer individual attention and suggest modifications when needed. You’re never just another mat in our studio. Whether you're brand new to the practice or returning after a long break, you’ll be welcomed here just as you are.
